What is salvation?

Salvation is God's victory over sin in our lives, offered through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by good works but is a gift of grace, received when a person repents and believes in Christ as their Savior.

Salvation brings forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life, restoring individuals to a right relationship with God.

Salvation is a personal experience, marked by a spiritual rebirth through the power of the Holy Spirit. It leads to transformation, setting apart from past sins, where believers grow in holiness and deepen their walk with God.

Taking the First Steps

The key steps to beginning a relationship with God are simple yet profound:

A – Admit that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We must acknowledge our need for God’s forgiveness.

B – Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again. Romans 5:8 reminds us, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Trusting in His sacrifice is the foundation of salvation.

C – Confess Jesus as Lord and call on Him to save you. Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Salvation comes through faith and surrender to Christ.

Pray The Sinners Prayer:

"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I ask for Your forgiveness and invite You into my heart. Be my Lord and Savior, and help me live for You. Amen."

It’s important to remember that salvation comes through faith in Christ, not just saying a prayer. The prayer is a way to express that faith and commitment to God.

These are the beginning steps in a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, opening the door to a life of repentance, forgiveness, grace, peace, and purpose.

Common Misconceptions About Salvation

Q: What does it mean to be saved?

A: Being saved means accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, receiving God’s grace, and being freed from the penalty of sin. It is not just about eternal life in heaven—it is about a transformed heart and a renewed life here on earth.

Q: Do I have to be a good person to be saved?

A: No. The Bible teaches that salvation is a gift, not something we can earn. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Salvation is not based on our goodness but on God’s mercy.

Q: What if I’ve done too many bad things? Can I still be saved?

A: Absolutely! No one is too far gone for God’s grace. Romans 5:8 reminds us, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus came to save the lost, and His love extends to everyone, no matter their past.

Q: Does being saved mean I have to be perfect?

A: Not at all. Salvation is the beginning of a journey of faith, not the expectation of perfection. Christians will still struggle and make mistakes, but God continues to guide, forgive, and shape them through His Word and Spirit.

Q: Can anyone be saved?

A: Yes! Romans 10:13 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Salvation is available to all who believe in Jesus Christ, confess Him as Lord, and trust in His sacrifice.

Q: What must I do to be saved?

A: The Bible outlines it clearly through the Romans Road:

• Admit you are a sinner (Romans 3:23).

• Believe that Jesus died for your sins (Romans 5:8).

• Confess Him as Lord and call on His name (Romans 10:9-10, 13).

Q: Can I avoid Hell by being a good person?

No. Imagine a man found guilty of stealing stood before a judge in a court of law and asked to go free because he was a “good person” (e.g., he attended church, supported charities, helped the elderly, etc.). Could that just and legal-minded judge let him go? Of course not; he’s a thief and no amount of good works can undo his punishment. In the same way, we can’t “go free” from the punishment of Hell related to our sinful crimes (stealing, lying, lusting, hating). In fact, the Bible states all it takes is one sin (one spiritual crime) and its as if we have violated all 10 commandments.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

“Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” James 2:10
